GUEST/IDM/CONNECT

CONNECT Guide

Symmetry CONNECT is a policy-based identity management workflow platform that helps organizations streamline internal processes by mitigating risk, demonstrating compliance, and reducing operating costs. AMAG Technology understands that it’s not just about the data and information you put into an application; it’s what you can get out of it.

Below is an example of some of the functionality provided by CONNECT:

  • Automated On-boarding and Off-boarding of Identities via integration with a local HR (Human Resource) data source

  • Access/Credential Request and Approval workflow processes

  • Scheduled Attestation Audits of secure areas within the facilities

  • Comprehensive Access and Compliance Reporting with the ability to configure and save reports for easy access in future

  • Comprehensive Integration with Symmetry Access Control for managing access

Terms Used

  • System Administrator: User responsible for the configuration, operation and maintenance of Symmetry CONNECT. The system administrator has full access to all aspects of the CONNECT tab in the system.

  • Identity: A person, or user of the system, typically an employee, or long term contractor that is part of the organization. CONNECT manages Identities and their physical access rights.

  • Authoritative Data Source: Identities such as employees are typically on-boarded into CONNECT from a local authoritative data source. This is the system of truth which contains an accurate record of identity data. Typically this is the Human Resource Management System (HRMS).

  • Physical Access Control System (PACS): The PACS is the access control system that controls access to all doors and entry points. CONNECT integrates with the PACS to provision access for all Identities. Identities can be partitioned by company within the system if required.

    Note

Companies in CONNECT are in no way related to Companies in Symmetry Access Control. It is important to understand the two objects are not related.

  • Buildings: Each identity is assigned to a specific Building in the system. Access can be assigned to identities based on the building to which they are assigned.

System Requirements

Note

Google Chrome is the recommended web browser to use with Symmetry CONNECT.

Symmetry CONNECT is typically deployed as a cloud-based, or hosted application. This allows it to be easy to configure and deploy as it requires little or no installation of any software locally in order for the system to operate. The solution is entirely browser-based and is compatible with most tablets, smartphones and workstations using a modern web browser.

  • Identities are on-boarded from the Authoritative Data Source. They are assigned access within Symmetry CONNECT and are provisioned into the Symmetry Access Control system.

  • The system is typically hosted by AMAG Technology, but can be deployed on-premise if required. All connections are made via a secure (HTTPS), TLS-encrypted connection.

  • Single Sign On (SSO) is supported (SAML2).

  • All users access the system via a web browser from a local workstation or mobile device.

CONNECT is compatible with standard workstations and mobile devices. A variety of peripherals, including printers, web cameras and other devices are also supported.

Note

Detailed System Requirements and peripherals are covered within separate documentation outside of the CONNECT guide.
